Goldenseal, another great supplement!

In my previous blog I talked about Cats Claw, a really great supplement for many health issues. But of course there are many more great supplements, which can all be found in my shop and every month or so there is one more. However, when do you use what supplement? In the coming blogs, each time I want to discuss a supplement. Supplements that I use for viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, but also which supplements I use to detox. I will also discuss where the supplement / herb can be used for.

Well let's get started, this time we'll discuss Goldenseal. This is one herb that you really should have in your first aid kit. You take this with you on holiday's and you can use it almost for everything. This is a really great one!

Goldenseal

Goldenseal root is a popular herb from North America that acts as a powerful herbal antibiotic and immune system enhancer. Goldenseal is a good source of vitamins A, C, E, & B complex and minerals such as calcium, iron and manganese. It contains potent antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, as well as alkaloids known to be an effective treatment for diarrhea and stomach problems caused by the flu or food poisoning.

It is also very helpful for other digestive problems such as stomach ulcers, gastritis, dyspepsia and colitis. Goldenseal helps increase digestive enzymes and significantly improves liver and spleen functions. It is a great infection fighter and is known to be particularly helpful in treating sinus, respiratory, mouth, throat, bladder, yeast and urinary tract infections. Especially here you notice great results!

It is also an effective remedy for hemorrhoids, athlete's foot, canker sores and to help stop heavy menstrual bleeding. Goldenseal is an essential herb during the cold and flu season as it can help prevent and relieve the symptoms of the common cold, flu, fever, bronchitis, severe congestion and even pneumonia. It is also useful against hay fever, laryngitis, cystitis, hepatitis and liver disease. Goldenseal also works very well for acne!

You can also use Goldenseal externally to help treat conjunctivitis and inflamed eyelids. A mouthwash can also be made and used as a gargle for sore throats and gingivitis and goldenseal creams/ointments are very effective for treating eczema, ringworm, boils, cuts and rashes. Goldenseal is often combined with other herbs, including Echinacea, which work synergistically, enhancing both healing properties together.

Goldenseal is available in capsule, tincture, extract, tea, mouthwash and cream form. You can find the tincture in the Innerfresh shop. I chose for the tincture because of the purity of the product. You can use this tincture as the basis for your own ointment. Although I often use it myself by simply dripping the tincture on the affected area. Works great!

If you take Goldenseal orally, use it in a two-week cycle, then 2 weeks off, and then repeat this process. This increases the effectiveness in the body. Dosage is different per problem, but you can safely take 2 x 2 pipettes per day. Sometimes even 3 x 2 pipettes a day.
